Christmas Greetings from Haven Of Hope Farm Bed and Breakfast
As we reflect on 2016, we have been so grateful for the many guests who have come through our door here at Haven Of Hope Farm Bed and Breakfast. As well for the unique and wonderful experiences we have enjoyed while working on the farm.
We have been so humbled by listening to the cancer journeys many have shared as they have been walking through their treatment, as well as those who have physical disabilities and have come for a retreat stay. The time we share having breakfast around our kitchen farm table with our guests has given us the privilege of building lasting friendships.
Another highlight of our year was hosting day retreats-a great experience of learning, sharing, spending time with the animals on a tour of the farm, and enjoying the beauty of the Rockway Conservation area.
In the spring of 2017, we anticipate the arrival of our new lambs. This time of year is always a highlight for us! We will be sure to take lots of photos of our new additions to the farm.
It is such a gift for our guests to spend time with the animals. It is amazing how they seem to forget so many of the stresses of life when they enter the barn and spend some time with the lambs, alpacas, chickens and pigs. As one of our guests shares, “When a person goes through the cancer journey, you begin to look at life with a different perspective. The simple things become beautiful and you learn to see each day as a gift.”
We have included a few photos of the farm B&B as well, the bounty which we were able to grow in our garden this year. So many of our guests have enjoyed seeing where the ingredients of their breakfast have come from. Health, nutrition and locally grown produce are in such priority, which we strive to provided.
On a personal note, many of our guests have asked that we keep you updated on how our family is doing. We were so blessed over the last year to have two new granddaughters born. It is hard to believe Autumn and Hailey are already a year old. Jon, Nicolette & Autumn moved across the country to B.C. We are thankful they are adjusting well-they are living close to Jon’s family and are settling into their new community.
Phil & Anna are adjusting well to being new parents to Hailey and are settled into their new home here in St. Catharines.
Jake is in his 4th year of university for Business and accounting.
We look forward to the year 2017 with anticipation and thankfulness to be able to serve our community and to welcome many more guests who enter our door.
“Come stay with us and find rest for the journey.”
We wish you and your family a blessed Christmas
Your hosts,
Dave & Daphne Bakker
